Perhaps as Musk gets further down the road of actually being a car manufacturer his thoughts will change, but he should welcome this. He gave out the patents freely so that more competition would come, he wants the electric car market as a whole to improve. That said I can't say I'm overwhelmed by this. I think both Tesla and to a lesser extent the Nissan leaf have better concepts. The I-pace, EQC, e-tron all still sound like geek gimmicks. Tesla and Nissan have built great cars that happen to be electric.
