My understanding is that ProteinQure is focusing on optimization algorithms (like QAOA) supported by near-term quantum computers. These fall in the category of quantum-classical hybrid algorithms, and are different than quantum simulation.
Source: I went to two talks by the founder. It's an ambitious project, but not BS.
