If you go to a hospital in China, you'll see it's based on Western medicine. But you will see a department for traditional Chinese medicine, or at least aspects of it that have been verified through research. Researchers take TCM and study it scientifically, which is how the cure for Malaria was found when Chinese scientists looked through 1600 year old literature.
