- 14 8y agoLol is my vehicle a 97 Plymouth Grand Voyager or is it something newer? I call it a Theseus Grand Voyager.
- tellonuk 8y agoEvery seven years (or 10, depending on which story you hear) we become essentially new people, because in that time, every cell in your body has been replaced by a new cell. (Including the Brain) https://www.livescience.com/33179-does-human-body-replace-cells-seven-years.html https://www.livescience.com/33179-does-human-body-replace-ce... Same person, or new person??
- BoiledCabbage 8y agoWhy would you post a link to an article that disproves your own comment? Both the 7 years portion and the brain cells being replaced? I don't get it.
- sandworm101 8y agoAnd tattoos. And teeth.
- okonomiyaki3000 8y agoGive him a break, he only uses 10% of his brain, you know. https://www.scientificamerican.com/article/do-people-only-use-10-percent-of-their-brains/ https://www.scientificamerican.com/article/do-people-only-us...
- pavel_lishin 8y agoIf I read Larry Niven's "Protector" in 2002, and re-read it again today in 2018, is it the same book, or a new book?
- AnthonBerg 8y agoIs it the same person reading?
- eesmith 8y agoOr "Pierre Menard, Author of the Quixote" - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pierre_Menard,_Author_of_the_Quixote https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pierre_Menard,_Author_of_the_Q... There are stories I reread after many years, where I had a rather different understanding the second time. I'm fine with saying that it's the same text but a different story, because the text is interpreted by the reader to become the story. I'm also fine with saying it's the same story. The Mississippi is the Mississippi even though it isn't the same river.
- jimnotgym 8y agoOr in the UK the canonical example is still "Trigger's Broom" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LAh8HryVaeY https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LAh8HryVaeY
- headmelted 8y agoI was wondering if someone had already posted this. Absolute classic.
- Axsuul 8y agoThis is great, how can I find more of these thought experiments?

- runciblespoon 8y ago@spacehome: “It's probably not the same sand, or at least not very much of it.” What was wrong with that comment that it got voted into invisibility?
- KindOne 8y agoInteresting comment, but I suspect others disagree and they downvoted it.
- frankzinger 8y agoPerhaps because it's rather obvious that it's different sand?
