Apple will unveil its new iPhones on Sept. 12
- larrik 8y agoI know it's impossible, but I legit hope the microphone jack comes back... Not looking forward to handing my 7's over to my kids to use as iPods and having to deal with stupid dongles. I may have them just keep their 6's.
- talltimtom 8y agoHaving had a 7 for a year now, I honestly didn’t take any notice. The new connector is better when running that’s the only difference I ever really noticed. Though I have never charged my phone while listening to music, even before. I charge it while I sleep.
- mixmastamyk 8y agoThe unobtrusive/high-quality headphones I prefer don't support them.
- wilsonnb3 8y agoWhat is it that your headphones don't support?
- mixmastamyk 8y agoPhones with lightning connector.
- Tsiklon 8y agoNot to support or stand over business practices I disagree with, but surprisingly the little £9 Lightning DAC/amp they ship with the phone/sell is rather good. I've run plenty of higher end headphones and IEMs from it without complaint.
- MR4D 8y agoBuy these straight from Apple: https://www.apple.com/shop/product/MMTN2AM/A/earpods-with-lightning-connector https://www.apple.com/shop/product/MMTN2AM/A/earpods-with-li... Or superglue the dongle onto the headphones cable. Problem solved. :) On a lighter note, it really fascinates me how many people share your view - clearly, Apple is not doing a good job of communicating this stuff. And I only know about it because I found out from a friend...who probably heard about it from another friend.
- wvenable 8y agoMy wife has a 6S and a handful of cheap earbuds that she misplaces all the time but also uses every day. Also her ears are too small for standard Apple earbuds to fit comfortably. I can only imagine the frustration of including expensive dongles in the mix too.
- dzhiurgis 8y agoJust get AirPods. Worth every penny. Best purchase this year.
- wvenable 8y agoImagine all the Android manufacturers rushing to add back headphone jacks (except Samsung) if Apple were to pull such a trick! I have a Samsung S7 and I'm super happy that it has a headphone jack -- although I have a few Bluetooth headphones needing to plug in comes up from time to time especially with kids.
- beerlord 8y agoNo need for the headphone jack back, its too deep and too hard to waterproof. I just want an iPhone with USB Type-C, so that I can share the same headphones on my laptop and my phone. Until then, I will stick with my iPhone 6S.
- hprotagonist 8y agosweet! cheap 8s in two weeks. my 180 degrees out of phase update scheme works out great.
- zach43 8y agoI’ve been using the iPhone 6s for years now, and still not been happy with the large screen size and aspect ratio. I hope Apple releases a updated version of the iPhone SE which seems like a better form factor for me.
- louisswiss 8y agoI have a 6s (upgraded from 4s) and my partner has an SE. The few times I had to use her phone, I found it absurdly uncomfortable to have so little screen real estate, especially when writing or watching video. She likes it because it fits into her jeans' pockets better than the larger models though.
- dzhiurgis 8y ago6S Plus here. Love the size and can easily do much bigger (big hands). If Apple doesn’t come up with high MP camera like p20 pro - I won’t upgrade even if my cam started to act weird after official bettery replacement (shaky, half blurred).
- reacharavindh 8y agoMy wish: A cross breed of iPhone X and iPhone SE. iPhone SE's size(fitting nicely in hand), reduced bezels, good camera, faster processor, gestures exactly like iPhone X, just retain the same battery iPhone SE already has - I'm sure it will last longer with the newer efficient processor. Now, I need to wake up and face the real life...

- lasgsf 8y agoI am 100% in agreement. Love the iPhone X but would be perfect for a lower size. Seems I will just purchase the new X at this point (going to give my old X to a relative).
- whymsicalburito 8y agoI hope so badly they build a phone that actually fits the human hand. This used to actually be a selling feature that they produced TV ads around. All the arguments for large screens on phones are always so lame. Use a laptop if you need productivity or watch an actual TV for video, I want a real mobile device that fits in my pocket.
- dpark 8y agoBuy an iPhone SE. It's got a 4-inch screen, barely larger than the original. There are phones made with small screens still. Stop complaining that large-screen phones don't have small screens and just buy a phone that has the small screen you want.
- wilsonnb3 8y ago> Stop whining that large-screen phones don't have small screens and just buy a phone that has the small screen you want. But the small screen phones pretty much never have the same features as the large screen phones. The person you're responding to wants a 2018 phone with a small screen, not a 2016 phone with a small screen.
- dpark 8y agoShrug. Some people want a small screen. Some people want an iPhone X without a notch. Some people want a headphone jack. The repetitive complaints are pointless. The market has moved on. Claiming that arguments in favor of large screens are "so lame" is itself extremely lame and tone deaf. Clearly most people want a large screen. Clearly most people will still buy a phone without a headphone jack. Personally I want an iPhone X with a fingerprint scanner, but no one cares, and Apple isn't reading these threads anyway.
- andrewmcwatters 8y agoShrug. Some people want a professional laptop with professional ports. Some people want a reliable laptop with a keyboard that doesn't have defects. The repetitive complaints are pointless. The market has moved on. Clearly most people want a thin professional laptop. Clearly most people will still buy a professional laptop without ports.
