The way people reach out is a factor in suicide but it's absolutely not the only one. I hope you find out what happened to your friend and that it was nothing too final, but please don't make the mistake of carrying that burden. It would be as big a mistake for you to do that as it would've been for your friend to feel like death was the only way to deal with their problems.
