I was good friends with a daughterful Skanky family growing up - almost wonder if it was the same one. Much in the same way that the pronunciation of harassment over-corrected to "hare-es-ment" for a while in the 90s (avoiding "her-ass-ment"), they led the pronunciation of their name towards Skanchy, like Scrunchy, or Crunchy before relenting.
