Sorry for the dumb question but I don’t get the link between New Orleans and African children? I’m in the UK, so may be missing some common US knowledge?
- bilbo0s 8y agoNew Orleans also serves as a very important agricultural port. A lot of the food grains we ship are being shipped from New Orleans. New Orleans is a large part of the reason that the American Midwest can feed the world.
- njarboe 8y agoLooks like New Orleans area ports export about 1/3 of the US agricultural products, which is 8 times more than any other US port[1]. Shipping down river is by far the cheapest way to move bulk products like grain and New Orleans is where the Mississippi meets the ocean.
