Slack (don't know if you'd qualify it as social media) has been raining havoc on my attention. For the life of me I can't seem to disable notifications and get constant emails and crap. Every new group you join you gotta go to settings and mess with settings forever. Why can't they just have 1 single button right in the channel that mutes EVERYTHING. Let me check the damn thing.
- wmeredith 8y agoBut their UX is so sticky! Gotta keep that engagement up! I am a UX director who hates Slack.
- eswat 8y agoAre these mostly public groups you’re joining? I think the friction towards turning notifications off stems from Slack being primary a tool for work, where you’d probably have more reasons to be notified of events than in a public channel.
