The fast 4K random read is handy for delta backups to hard disk; I can read half a million files in about a minute, determine what changed, and send whatever small changes off to disk. Another great use case is for web/npm projects with a million dependencies, all flat file. Working with those is usually miserable otherwise. In the future I intend to crunch time series data with it.
