I can say that for vi(m) users, there is an excellent plugin for VS Code that works quite well. I still struggle with git in VS Code though, I prefer using git on the command line.

It does not work well with macros.

VS Code has a terminal integrated in its interface and it’s just a short key away from view. You don’t really need to point and click.
