Why wouldn't you ask questions about relational databases? I would expect any decent dev to know the fundamentals of relational databases.
- tptacek 8y agoI think you're missing my point. Qualifying candidates based on relational database skill is not a problem; if it's something they'll be expected to do on the job, you should evaluate their ability. I'm saying the kind of Socratic interview alluded to in this article isn't the best way to accomplish that.
