I found Anki the only software that can easily make flash cards using LaTeX. I typically have a lot of equations and I prefer to write my cards using the outlines package in LaTeX. In the latest version of Anki, the LaTeX is rendered using SVG and looks great on Retina and HiDPI screens without having large file sizes. I know others who maintain their cards/latex in a text file and import the changes rather than working in the Anki software for creating and maintaining cards.
