During World War I, in order to get a decent working radio, the US government suspended lots of IP restrictions and made companies pool their patents. Perhaps in the future we could see something like this. Considering that radio stocks were the “hot item” in the 20’s, to a point where it became something of a bubble, it doesn’t look like businesses made out too bad.
