1. It took me about a month. However, I wasn't working at the time so I didn't need to switch back or worry about being productive. I only typed about 60 WPM and I reached the same level. 2. It probably was at the beginning but after using Dvorak for so long, I need to long at the keys while I type on a QWERTY layout. I suppose you could keep both up if you had some reason to do so.
