Is there any way to confirm this is actually legit? I mean, theoretically one could just make such things up, no?

- symmitchry 8y agoDoes anything about this thread really surprise you though? As to be unbelievable? Do you think that other car manufacturers are that much better? I've read so many insane stories about software in Toyotas (or was it Honda?), and those are very old, very well established companies. That a company like Tesla would have rock solid software would be a miracle.
- outworlder 8y agoWell, at least other manufacturers aren't trying to pull this SSH over cell networks crap.
- jkbjotnip 8y agoIt's noted that they're using OpenVPN, so using cell network is probably a non-issue.
- stefan_ 8y agoDidn't we just have this yesterday, with the junior shocked to find that code in the real world doesn't at all look like the ruby "made with heart in Portland" stuff that has all the stars on GitHub? This is what systems look like in every industry. Look no further than the crappy Java SWT GUIs you see in those leaked abhorrent NSA powerpoints.
- calcifer 8y agoIf it was made up, don't you think it would be trivially easy to discredit by literally anyone in one of those teams? Not to mention Tesla itself?
- majewsky 8y agoYou think anyone is going to believe when Tesla (or its employees) issues a rebuttal like "You guys! That's totes not how we do stuff!"?
