I've done that using Home Assistant, it's pretty easy. Adjusting temperature isn't that important, but I'm really light sensitive and having a light slowly fade on in the morning is enough to wake me up gently. Many smart bulbs support color temperature adjustment, e.g. Phillips Hue, IKEA Tradfri, and LIFX all sell bulbs that have that.
