Let's not get too far ahead ourselves in reinterpreting the past. Romney wanted a Russian threat for military spending, specifically another aircraft carrier, and to rally the base; at this time Russia was still the GOP's enemy of choice (how much things change in 5 years). He did turn out to be right, but Im not sure how useful a Cold War mindset of guns and bombs rather than bits and propaganda really is in the 21st century.
