I just got myself the 2018 13" model after it became clear they addressed the keyboard/dust issue, and I'm pleasantly surprised by the keyboard feel. Initial impressions in the shop are never accurate, but after working on it for a few days, I prefer it over the keyboard of my aging MBA. Now that said - I haven't experienced any kernel crashes yet, and I expect Apple to fix this in software, so I don't worry too much about it.
