My intro to EE class used a nice analogue of water flow through a circuit composed of piping. We were encouraged to think of power as relating to a volume of water, resistance as relating to the thickness of a given piece of piping, voltage as a difference in height (i.e. water having potential energy for flowing downwards), and so on. This model was surprisingly good at easily conceptualizing how a current flows through a circuit.
