I don't think it's just the passport (hint: how do you look?)
- maxxxxx 8y agoI honestly don't think so. I am generally not a people person and don't make a very friendly first impression.
- prmph 8y agoOP is probably referring to your racial/ethnic appearance
- maxxxxx 8y agoWhen I was in Cambodia/Laos/Thailand I often stood in line at the border with people from Poland, France and other countries. Me and the French were checked less and got in with less questions than the Polish people. I can imagine they get treated better than dark skinned people but even within white people there is a difference.
- charlesdm 8y agoAs a white European, I have never been treated badly (or even been searched) -- I travel quite a bit. But I know a girl from Colombia who gets checked nearly every single time she crosses a border.
- raincom 8y agoColombian/Caribbean passports = extra scrutiny for drug mules. Watch the customs check when flights arrive from Caribbean/latin America.
- puranjay 8y agoAlso matters who you're with. Traveling with my wife, I get treated with more respect than when I traveled alone
