The closest I've come is leaving one in a restroom stall at work when I was in a hurry to catch a flight, and I called a coworker to retrieve it for me when I realized that I'd left it behind. It was a Pilot Vanishing Point. Mitch Hedberg was right - buy an expensive pen, and you won't lose it and not care. That VP was $180 new, so it wasn't as odd of a reaction as it might sound at first.
