That's how their version numbers work - 9.10 was released in October 09, 9.04 in April 09, etc.

  i don't think that the case. The first number is the year and the second is the month.

      Yes, but in previous years, it was on the 30th of the month that the release happened. This year it was on the 10th of the month so 10.10 could be year.month or month.day. They broke with tradition slightly to celebrate the day.
