This is a terrible idea because it will lead to a more hierarchical corporate environment. My manager has been coding for 15 years in the embedded space, but he is rarely on my PRs (unless we happen to be working on an overlapping feature). At my company, PRs will automerge if at least one reviewer with write access approves and CI checks pass. This is the best way IMO. It’s fast, too.
