I've come to the conclusion there's 4 different types of articles
- Personal stories
- News Stories
- Opinions

Personal stories are generally the more interesting ones to read. Its mostly told from your perspective, and the things you learned and fucked up along the way. There really isn't a call to action here per say besides wanting to chime in with your similar experience(s). Its more for entertainment education purposes. Someone might gain insight by your stream of thought process and learn some tidbits of useful info. You write these mostly because you want to remember these war stories. Here's a good one https://medium.com/@noahbradley/how-i-became-an-artist-4390c6b6656c https://medium.com/@noahbradley/how-i-became-an-artist-4390c...
News stories is just recent events and tradional reporting. Example with recent bridge drop in italy. Its all mostly unbiased factual information. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-europe-45183624 https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-europe-45183624
Opinions are generally just that, opinions. This is all the medium articles you read online talking about how XYZ is the newest and best thing ever. You might reason through logic explaining the process of why you chose XYZ, its pros and cons to other closer equivalents. Things are generally told from your perspective and how your experience correlates to that decision. There might be a call to action encouraging others to do the same, or asking their opinions. Here's a good example of a strongly opinionated article https://medium.com/@robmuh/why-i-dropped-jade-pug-bf440c2269ae https://medium.com/@robmuh/why-i-dropped-jade-pug-bf440c2269...
Guides is what this article talks about. It is mostly "know your audience". Its generally overall objective, and to the point. Its told mostly from the point of view of the reader. The word "you" is more used than "me" in these types of articles. How much jargon you use depends on your article. It could be mixed in with some ancedotal stories as well. It should be simple too. A good example of a the point article is this one: https://www.taniarascia.com/es6-syntax-and-feature-overview/ https://www.taniarascia.com/es6-syntax-and-feature-overview/
