I don't know if my technical articles are always good, but I think the most important part of my process is to reread the article a couple of times and edit it down. Most articles lose about 1/3rd of their words to edits. Don't repeat yourself, be concise, and use the minimum words necessary to convey the concepts accurately. As I got better at that I think my quality improved accordingly.
