How long does it take to "program" a FPGA? i.e. compared with typing a command, and having it load into memory. What about a JIT that compiles hot code section

How long does it take to "program" a FPGA? i.e. compared with typing a command, and having it load into memory. What about a JIT that compiles hot code sections to FPGA?
