I'm willing to bet that you consume a lot of content that you didn't get directly from the people that produced it. To your other points I largely agree. I have a giant box of cd's that I move with me from residence to residence, but never open. At this point it's really more of a burden, far outweighing the value I might get out of it someday if I ever decide to finally open it back up.
