Delays of 30-90 seconds are rarely at the network level. Asynchronous is generally better than synchronous, but it seems more detective work should be done before declaring war on synchronous scripts.
Are other users in Russia affected? Are users on other ISPs affected? How widespread is this problem? Are your ping times the same to "www.digg.com" as to "widgets.digg.com"?
If there is any truth to this post, the problem should be fixable.
- rarestblog 16y agoIt's not at network level, it's probably at service level. Service takes too long to respond (overloaded, not enough bandwidth, real-time replication, deadlocks - you guess it). I don't know how widespread is the problem, but I'm on a major provider and connection to everything else is very fine. The ping is fine BTW - 50ms for widgets.digg, 200ms for digg. Which just helps to prove that it's a service problem.
