You're essentially describing where we started out. We know what happens without rules, online and off. There's a reason we converge towards having standards of behavior above basic legality.
We have to stop conflating the importance to speak without threat of imprisonment with a right to publish anything anywhere.
- hkai 8y agoI'd argue that there is no significant difference in the way that totalitarian governments silence democracy activists, Muslims or just random people protesting against government actions, and the actions of Facebook, Apple, Google and Spotify. Yes Alex Jones is horrible. Problem is, if crazy people don't have freedom of speech, you don't have it either.
