This subthread may very well be contributing to the submission sinking: one of the factors involved is the "overheated discussion detector", which, as I understand it, takes into account rate of comments. If you think something odd is going on, contact the mods via the Contact link in the footer, as they're the ones who can actually view what's happening and do something about it. Otherwise, the best thing you can do is make insightful, substantive comments to the thread yourself.
