Pete. I would not call you an atheist, but an agnostic. You are not emotionally attached to the idea that there is not and cannot be any god... but you simply accept the fact that we don´t have evidence to tell there´s one for sure. I think this is the idea that Itistoday tried to say. That there is some subset of militant atheist who believe so strongly in science, that they do not accept any possibility that there is something that science cannot explain. Traditional religions being the forefront example of such beliefs, they develop an irrational hatred of anything related to that.
