But sometimes you get 'first opinions' by people who've thought deeply about the topic for a long time. This is the value. I'd also add that for a site with very broad subject matter, the level of discussion can be quite high. Certainly not as high as some specialists forums (ie LtU). There are a few things I appreciate; the spartan design, the focus on longer form posting (on the order of paragraphs) as opposed to drive by one liners or in jokes. I really get to exercise my writing here, and read others as well.
