This is nothing like coffeescript. Coffeescript was an entirely separate language that just happens to compile to Javascript. The whole fiasco with Coffeescript 1 -> 2 was that 1 only compiled to ES5 and couldn't support ES6+. Migrating to Coffeescript 2 is basically the same amount of work as migrating to modern day Javascript. You can't even write Javascript within a Coffeecript file without it breaking. Typescript IS Javascript. You can copy paste code both ways and they'll still work.
