- toast0 8y agoI recently got rid of mine. If you got it before they made the batch of really bad ones, and stopped using public drives when everybody was getting click of death, they could last ok (but weren't nearly as useful). Also, if you put in a dead disk, you needed to turn off the drive and get the disk out quick.
- erickhill 8y agoI have 2 drives - one each on a different machine. Both work beautifully. The click of death was real, but it wasn't every drive. Just enough to taint the brand. It was sort of like the iPhone antennaegate, which was also real. But not a show stopper.
- tbrock 8y agoAlthough if it broke a disk then the “infected” disks would break other drives. In my case the school drive got the click of death (don’t know if patient zero or infected secondarily) and then literally everyone else who owned one had it die with the click after bringing their projects into class on zip and using that drive.

- Simulacra 8y agoI just checked my husband storage room, where he’s kept everything from his three 386/33 MHz from when he was 13, to several zip drives and disks. We plugged them up to XP machine and they work! Found my husband’s college porn collection.
