This is true if: 1. Your normal style of travel is to see and do everything, and not stay in one place longer than a few days, versus parking yourself at a beach/campsite/resort/etc and reading books for week. 2. You live somewhere relaxing, not a big noisy bustling city (or perhaps if you are particularly mindful). Even then, sometimes it's nice to get away from your usual scenery. When you've got 2 weeks of vacation a year it's easy to feel obligated to see all the things. If you have the opportunity to do some long term traveling I highly recommend it. It's a very different experience to absorb culture by osmosis vs force-feeding it to yourself.
