- dontnotice 8y agoYou'd expect there to be more and heftier fines levied on EU-based companies since it's the regulator overseeing the eurozone, but they save the record fine for US firms. Beside most of that is on cartels i.e the ones they don't require convoluted reasoning to prosecute and the large fines are shouldered by several companies.
- teamhappy 8y agoThe method used to calculate the fines is the same for every company. You can review it here: https://eur-lex.europa.eu/legal-content/EN/TXT/HTML/?uri=CELEX:52006XC0901(01)&from=EN https://eur-lex.europa.eu/legal-content/EN/TXT/HTML/?uri=CEL... Seems perfectly reasonable to me.
- shad0wbanned 8y agoSeems like "Seems perfectly reasonable to me." is a prevalent phrase in this thread, wonder how much of that is coordinated. It doesn't seem reasonable to me
- ChrisSD 8y ago"Large fines" are relative, it's based on global turnover. Google's revenue is far higher than most other corporations.
