How is this relevant to Hacker News? This is a political story, which would be better suited on Reddit politics.

I'm not into politics. I've only managed to vote twice in my life. I thought the social analysis of how things happen was interesting, such as this fascinating nugget about how rich people operate: Although their power may sometimes be used to influence the result of a particular vote, it is often deployed more subtly, to shape public narratives about which problems deserve attention.

  A quick glance at your Twitter and you seem to be quite political. "Someone explain this idiocy to me in a way that doesn't just boil down to America has lost it's soul."

    I occasionally bitch about stuff on twitter these days that historically I paid no attention to. (shrug) I don't think that makes me political, personally. Just human and not happy with the state of the world.

      Tottaly fair, I assume you would agree that both sides political then have the right to "bitch" about the state of the world? Anyway this sort of proves my point, we have derailed.

        Only because you chose to derail it and, unfortunately, you were the first person to post a comment, following which the piece appears to have been flagged off the front page. Congrats. You have furthered your goal of making sure this gets as little attention as possible while dominating the conversation here.

    I'm not sure what an analysis of his Twitter feed brings to a discussion about the article in question. Are you trying to suggest he should not post this because he is (not so) secretly politically minded?

Yup fully agree. There are better forums for politics. It's just distracting reading this crap everyday. I'd like HN to stick to pure tech. Leave out geopolitics/economics/psychology/random deep science articles/philosophy please. Most people here have no idea what they are talking about when it comes to this stuff. And there just much better places on the internet for it.
