My personal opinion is that badges won't matter to people consuming newswire content. I suspect that within a year, badges have little-to-no value in apps as a whole (with the exception of gaming apps -- and I consider Four Square to be a game).
- bingbingbing 16y agoyou're right about the badges. that's just to get the engagement going in the beginning, but you will eventually see them evolve into something much more useful and perhaps you would be able to unlock real-life prizes like gift cards, sponsor supported gadgets etc.
