My experience is that it's bullshit. I had a backup (damn I still have one) with Backblaze, when attempting to restore it, maybe 30% of the files survived restore. The rest are lost in smoke. They don't have any way to detect corruption in the data or if they have, the backup clients are oblivious to it. I lost about a 150GB of family photos and videos.
