AI can be sexist and racist – it’s time to make it fair
- beerlord 8y agoPerhaps if Indians, Africans or Chinese wanted technology geared to them - they could have invented it? Perhaps African American names would sound less unpleasant if they so frequently weren't associated with violent crime? (black males make up 13% of the American population, but they commit 52% of homicides) Not to mention that these terms were all entered in English - the Hindi word for wedding surely would have turned up some examples of traditional Indian weddings. AI is revealing starkly that yes, humans are sexist and racist. To change the AI means it no longer reflects the humans it is meant to be serving.
