This doesn't match my experience at all. I've seen bad code and bad projects but it's been a result of poor management or programmers who just don't know better. I've also seen far more projects staffed with intelligent, conscientious, and fun people, and some very nice code bases. If this essay reflects your experiences in the IT industry something is wrong.
