The worst that happened to me on amazon when I had credit card issues is that I could no longer make changes in the developer console and instead was forced to contact amazon accounts to resolve the issue. I could still see everything and all my systems continued running.

As you can see above, I was given three days on AWS to fax (!!!) proof of identity or my account would be deleted.
