The i9 CPU is a K part, therefore, I would think one could conceivably undervolt/underclock in order to change the thermals on the machine to their liking. Is there such a tool for Mac OS X?
- cdmckay 8y agoWhat’s a K part?
- aparashk 8y agoThe Intel processors that have the suffix “K” are unlocked, and can be under or overclocked: https://www.intel.com.au/content/www/au/en/gaming/overclocking-intel-processors.html https://www.intel.com.au/content/www/au/en/gaming/overclocki...
- asloma 8y agoWe're talking about a laptop here, which most definitely doesn't contain an overclockable i9 K processor.
- aparashk 8y agoIt is according to Intel (otherwise it would not be labeled as i9-8950HK): https://www.intel.com.au/content/www/au/en/gaming/overclocking-intel-processors.html https://www.intel.com.au/content/www/au/en/gaming/overclocki...
- paulmd 8y agoAnd you would be wrong there. There are mobile K SKUs that can be overclocked.
- nickflood 8y agoYou can actually undervolt and underclock any Intel CPU, Unlocked ones are just unlocked in the "up" direction.
