Ask HN: Chromebooks and secure storage?

Hi There appear to be quite a few people on hacker news that are working from chromebooks and I was just wondering how people handle online storage? I like chromebooks but have a hard time handling access to secure online data storage (I dont want to put everything in google drive, I know I can mount sftp servers in the finder but then I need to maintain a secure server). So I was wondering how you are handling secure storage of data? Do you keep it offline or something else?
