Ask HN: Is there data on how long it took for popular software to develop?

It would be very interesting to know how many man-years it took to develop the most widely known software, e.g. Unix kernel, git, Mac OS, Windows, MS Office, Libre Office, Firefox, Chrome, and so on. Historically significant projects would also be interesting, like the software of the space shuttle.
