this sort of reminds me of RPG games. i never know what class to choose, they all seem cool in most games. so what i usually do is look at the end level content for what a class will be capable of and choose based on that, even though i never have time to actually get to that stage anyway. but the concept of working towards something is super valuable to me. i know its not exactly directly applicable to real life, but perhaps finding youtube videos or something on what is possible if you're an expert at said subject would probably help you choose something
