I started reading this year after a gap of perhaps 10. Sci-fi. Couldn't be happier. Strong recommendations:
- Anathem, Neal Stephenson (already on my second read)
- Accelerando, Charles Stross
- Glasshouse, Charles Stross
- Jedd 8y agoHeh. I sometimes read these contemporary ask-hn's and realise I'm way outside of the loop, but can agree with this short list. In recent years have read-and-thoroughly-enjoyed Neal Stephenson's Seveneves, Cixin Liu's The Three Body Problem, and Charles Stross' Accelerando - and only later realised they're basically all about the end (in different ways) of the world. I'm two thirds of the way through Ramez Naam's Nexus trilogy ... and am now starting to think I have a literary fetish.
