Does anyone have data on typical wholesale power costs?
- crazypyro 8y agoVarious data here: https://www.eia.gov/electricity/wholesale/ https://www.eia.gov/electricity/wholesale/ From my brief browsing, $23.76 is <70% of the average $/MWh price across the available data.
- bruinjoe 8y agoThat's mind boggling. This is absolutely incredible. Our country has so000 much hot, sunny unused land in the west. Let's cover it up with solar panels and make use of the free sunshine.

- marktangotango 8y agoStorage and transmission are the ongoing problems here. Also applies to wind on the Great Plains.
- sremani 8y agothat is about $2 cents on kwh! Sounds about right for wholesale price.
- scblock 8y agoYou can look up Locational Marginal Pricing (LMP) data. Some Independent System Operators publish the information online. It varies pretty widely by region, and by time of day, time of year, condition of the grid, etc. ERCOT: http://www.ercot.com/content/cdr/contours/rtmLmpHg.html http://www.ercot.com/content/cdr/contours/rtmLmpHg.html CAISO: http://www.caiso.com/PriceMap/Pages/default.aspx http://www.caiso.com/PriceMap/Pages/default.aspx MISO: https://api.misoenergy.org/MISORTWD/lmpcontourmap.html https://api.misoenergy.org/MISORTWD/lmpcontourmap.html
