Seems like an application of sturgeon's law, there is a tendency to do what is new because it is new. A well designed microservice architecture can be a tremendous boon for a product. A well designed monolith can be a tremendous boon for a product. About 90% of both are poorly done. It's interesting how often people favor ANY motion vs motion in the correct direction.
